21 Years of Kasanag Daughters Foundation, Inc.

On May 30, 2020, the Kasanag Daughters Foundation, Inc. (KDFI), the flagship social project of the Priests of the Sacred Heart – Philippine Region in Cagayan de Oro City, celebrated its 21st Founding Anniversary. The celebration started with the  Holy Eucharist presided by Fr. Joseph C. Butlig, SCJ, the program coordinator, and was followed by a short program prepared by the girls, and common supper.

The institution, providing shelter and rehabilitation opportunities to the victims of sexual abuse, was established in 1999 by Fr. Eduardo Aguero, SCJ.  As of now, the institution takes care of 21 girls, aged 8 to 16 years. Since the beginning, the total number of admissions reached more or less 200 girls.

The institution is registered with the DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) and is committed to meet all the standards and requirements to serve better its clients. The staff is composed of house-mothers, psychologists, social workers, and a project manager. All activities are supervised by the Board of Directors (BOD) representing different sectors of the society.

The foundation is being supported by people “with the open heart and mind”, mainly from Germany, Poland, Philippines, and other entities of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart (SCJ).

Starting the next year 2021 all celebrations of the founding anniversaries will be celebrated on May 17, together with the anniversary of the arrival of first SCJ missionaries in the Philippines.
