Celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart in Cagayan de Oro

Fr. Patrick L. Gutib, SCJ – main celebrant

The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is the patronal feast of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (SCJ) and it’s celebrated in all SCJ communities around the world, especially in the formation communities. This year due to the pandemic coronavirus and because of safety precautions the celebration of this feast had to be simple and limited in attendance. For this reason, the SCJ community in Cagayan de Oro decided to have it also online, and in this way to allow their friends and benefactors to participate in it.

The concelebrated Mass in the afternoon was presided by the superior of the community Fr. Patrick L. Gutib, SCJ. After the Creed, all SCJs renewed their commitment as religious, which was followed by the acceptance of new Postulants. The new postulants (Joshua John C. Malalis, Junas S. Malana, and Vince Mahinay) were presented by Fr. Rico O. Lapinig, SCJ, the Formator of Aspirants, and accepted in the name of the Regional Superior, Fr. Lukas Hadi Siswo Sasmito, SCJ, by Fr. Patrick, the Master of Postulants.

On this day also Fr. Francis Pupkowski, SCJ, has celebrated his 34th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood.
