Christmas Celebration at Sacred Heart Formation House in Cagayan de Oro City

It’s almost Christmas, and according to some people, it’s “the most wonderful time of the year”. The Christmas season in the Philippines, one of the six predominantly Christian countries in Asia, is traditionally one of the longest in the world, it starts as early as September 1. The “Ber months” countdown, which runs from September to December, is one of the most important traditions that sets apart Christmas in the Philippines from celebrations in the rest of the world.

The formal Christmas celebrations start on December 16 with the early morning Masses called Novena de Gallo or Simbang Gabi. The Christmas celebrations continue to the First Sunday in January when Epiphany or the Feast of the Three Kings is celebrated.

The month of December is the month of Christmas celebrations which include a series of joyous activities, such as parlor games theatrical or musical performances and exchanging of gifts.

On December 20, 2021, the community of the Sacred Heart Formation House in Cagayan de Oro, together with the students and the staff has celebrated its Christmas, which included different presentations, “SCJ got talent” and gift-giving.
