Cagayan de Oro Community Honors Mary and the Saints with Candles, Skits, and Prayer

On the evening of October 31, 2023, the SCJ Formation Community in Cagayan de Oro City held a unique and heartwarming celebration to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and the many saints who lived and have gone before us. The event was attended by the Community of TMM Sisters, some employees in the formation house, and friends.

The celebration began at 6:00 PM at the basketball court, where more than 50 candles were arranged to form a giant rosary. As the participants prayed each mystery, they lit up the corresponding candles, creating a beautiful and prayerful atmosphere. The statue of Mary was illuminated by the soft glow of the candles as if she was smiling down on her children.

Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, as rain started to fall at the end of the rosary. However, the participants were not deterred. They quickly moved to the refectory for a meal and later to the conference hall, where they continued to pray and celebrate together.

After the meal, the students of the SCJ Formation Community entertained the audience with a series of skits about different saints. Each student introduced the chosen saint and explained why they were inspired by them. The skits were both informative and entertaining, showcasing the students’ creativity and humor.

The event was a wonderful way to culminate the Month of the Holy Rosary and to celebrate All Saints Day. It was also a great opportunity for the community to come together and to share their faith and friendship.

“It was a night of prayer and joy,” said one of the TMM Sisters who attended the event. “We felt closer to Mary and the saints, and to each other.”
