In a momentous occasion held at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Aluba, Cagayan de Oro City, five SCJ brothers – Bro. Giovanni Bautista, Bro. Francis Atayza, Bro. July Zambrano, Bro. Rackie Roxas, and Bro. Karl Ryan Opeña – made their final profession of vows, marking a significant step in their religious journey. The ceremony, held on December 6, 2023, was presided over by Fr. Lukas Hadi Siswo Sasmito, SCJ, the Regional Superior of the Priests of the Sacred Heart in the Philippines.
The five brothers, who have dedicated years of formation and discernment, pronounced their vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience, pledging their lives to serve God through the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart. Their commitment to these vows reflects their deep devotion to their faith and their willingness to live a life of simplicity and humility in service to others.
Fr. Sasmito, in his homily, commended the brothers for their unwavering commitment to their vocation and encouraged them to continue to grow in their love for God and their service to the Church. He reminded them that their vows are not a burden but a source of strength and grace, enabling them to fulfill their mission as priests of the Sacred Heart.
The ceremony was attended by family members, friends, fellow SCJ brothers, and members of the local community, who gathered to witness this momentous occasion and offer their support and prayers to the newly professed brothers. The atmosphere was filled with joy and gratitude as the brothers embarked on this new chapter in their lives.
The final profession of vows is a culmination of years of spiritual formation and preparation, and it marks a significant milestone in the lives of these five SCJ brothers. Their commitment to the vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience is a testament to their dedication to their faith and their willingness to serve God and the Church. As they continue their journey as priests of the Sacred Heart, we pray for their continued growth in grace and their unwavering commitment to their vocation.
