SCJ Media Assembly 2025

From May 1-4, 2025, the Sacred Heart Formation House in Aluba, Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City, hosted a Media Assembly themed “A Heart for the World: Pilgrims of Hope. Living Fr. Dehon’s Legacy in the Age of Innovation.” Over 70 participants from various SCJ parishes and apostolates, accompanied by their assistant parish priests, gathered to explore the intersection of faith and modern communication.

The assembly featured a series of workshops focused on writing, photography, and videography, designed to equip attendees with practical skills for effective evangelization in the digital age. These sessions were complemented by discussions on current trends in social communications, where participants shared their experiences and best practices. A key focus was on strengthening networks within the congregation and addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI).

On Saturday, May 3, 2025, Ms. Kathylenne Janice Diaz from TV Maria in Manila delivered a keynote address, offering insights into the evolving landscape of media and its role in spreading the Gospel. Her talk inspired attendees to think creatively about how they could use social media and other digital platforms to reach wider audiences.

The assembly concluded on May 4, 2025, with a Holy Eucharist presided over by Very Rev. Fr. Niño Etulle, SCJ, the Regional Superior. During the ceremony, participants were commissioned to carry forward the mission of evangelization through social media, empowered by the knowledge and connections they had gained over the four days.

This Media Assembly not only honored Fr. Dehon’s legacy but also embraced the spirit of innovation, encouraging participants to become pilgrims of hope in a rapidly changing world.
