On January 6, 2021, at 10:30 in the evening, due to respiratory problems and cardiac arrest, died Fr. Aloisio Back, SCJ, a former member of the SCJ Philippine Region.

Father Aloísio Back was born on October 31, 1952, and was 68 years old. He took his first vows on February 2, 1973, and was ordained a priest on December 31, 1982.

He was currently living in Formiga (Brazil). He belonged to the South Brazilian Province (BSP).

Fr. Aloisio arrived in the Philippines in 1992. After finishing his language course (Cebuano) in Davao City, his first assignment was in Dimataling as an assistant parish priest. After that, for many years Fr. Al, as he used to be called, was working as a formator: Master of Postulants, Master of Novices, and Formator in the SCJ Theologate in Manila. In 1994 he was appointed as a third councilor of the local community of the Philippine Islands and in 1997 as the local superior of the Philippine Territorial Community. In 2000 he became the first District Superior of the Philippines.

His last assignment was as a parish priest in San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish in the Diocese of Novaliches (Quezon City). In addition to that, he was accompanying the young SCJ clergy in their journey of life as religious.

In January 2018 after 26 years of missionary service in the Philippines Fr. Aloisio Back, SCJ returned to Brazil and continued his priestly ministry as parish vicar of “Nossa Senhora de Lourdes in Formiga -MG” until the last moment God called him.

We commend the soul of Fr. Aloisio to God’s mercy and ask for prayers in his intention.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
