On January 8, 2021, a day before the Feast of the Patron, Jesus Nazareno, the Dansolihon Chaplaincy celebrated the Dedication of the New Church. The concelebrated Mass of Dedication was presided by Archbishop of Cagayan de Oro, Most. Rev. José A. Cabantan, DD, together with Archbishop Emeritus, Most. Rev. Antonio J. Ledesma, SJ, DD., SCJ priests from the area of Cagayan de Oro and three diocesan priests: two from Cagayan de Oro and one from the Diocese of Pagadian.
In his homily, Archbishop Ledesma recalled the history of the Chaplaincy and all the priests assigned there, especially the present Bishop of Imperatriz (Brasil), Most Rev. Vilsom Basso, SCJ. The Archbishop also quoted several times the book written by Fr. Basso when he was still the parish priest in Dansolihon entitled “Ngano man?” (Why?)
The construction of the new church has officially started on January 24, 2017. Thanks to the industriousness of Fr. Jan Krzysciak, SCJ, the priest in charge of the chaplaincy, and the cooperation of the Christian community the new church could rise up so quickly. Fr. Jan in these efforts is being helped by Fr. Ruel C. Paalisbo, SCJ – his assistant and seminarian on exposure Fra. Rene Adorable, SCJ.
Originally, the dedication was planned to be held on the last Sunday of April 2020, but due to the Covid-19 had to be postponed to this year. The new church looks very nice and the Dansolihon Community can be proud of it. Congratulations!
