Priestly Ordination of Deacon Victor Lingasa, SCJ

On February 25, 2021, Deacon Victor M. Lingasa, SCJ was ordained, priest. The ceremony of ordination took place at the Immaculate Conception Parish Parish in Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur, his parish of origin, and was presided by the Bishop of Pagadian Diocese, Most Rev. Ronald I. Lunas, D.D.

Fr. Victor M. Lingasa was born in Poblacion Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur, on June 30, 1984. After he finished his elementary, high school and graduated from Columban College in Pagadian City he joined the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 2010 at the Sacred Heart Formation House in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental. There he studied Philosophy at Xavier University and was admitted to Postulancy in 2012 in the same seminary. In 2013, he proceeded to the novitiate Fr. Dehon in Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur, and in 2014 he moved to Dehon House Theologate in Quezon City to complete his studies. There he studied at Recollectos School of Theology until 2017. After that, he experienced pastoral work in the SCJ community in Hilongos, Leyte, and after his diaconate ordination on October 16, 2019, he served as a deacon in the SCJ community in Tanay, Rizal.

In his homily, the Bishop recalled the request of Saint Madre Teresa of Calcutá: “you, priests, give us Jesus, only Jesus. “

In the end Fr. Victor thanked all people who helped him on the way to priesthood especially to God who called him and sustains his vocation.

The ceremony of ordination started at 9:00 am and ended with a lunch at 11:30 am.

Besides the bishop, the Mass was at tented by 39 priests, 12 sisters and brothers, seminarians, and a full Church with laypeople.

Fr. Victor will exercise his ministry in the SCJ community in Banal na Krus Parish, Tanay, Rizal.
