After three years of hiatus due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the Dehonian Youth Missionaries are graced to continue their annual Summer Youth Mission that started on July 14-23, 2023 with the purpose of being with the various communities, sharing and collaborating in building a fortified faith in Christ. Before the mission proper, a three-day stay-in-Umol at Dansolihon Parish was facilitated by the seminarians sharing their knowledge about the SCJ Congregation, the Youth, and Community Life.
After three days of orientation, they were blessed and commissioned to be sent off to the different communities bringing with them the spirit of a Dehonian Missionaries by their formator, Fr. Patrick L. Gutib.
Right after the Eucharistic celebration, the three groups headed for their assigned mission areas. For the whole week, the missionaries went to the different communities doing their pastoral work of House Visitation, House Blessing, Youth Recollection, Bible Sharing, and Catechesis. The missionaries lived together with the people in order for them to awaken their slumbered spirit of service in the Church and felt like they need instruments in order to encourage them to live a Christian life.
After a week of being in the various communities, the missionaries bid their farewell to the people. They all went back home to Dansolihon Parish to have their sharing and evaluation upon their multifarious experiences in the mission areas. Henceforth, the Summer Youth Mission was concluded with an outing in order to celebrate the success and hard work of the annual mission.
