Immaculate Conception Parish Bids Farewell to Brother Yohanes Sismadi

After 23 years of dedicated service in the Philippines, Brother Yohanes Sismadi, SCJ, bid farewell to his beloved community in Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. A farewell dinner held in the Parish Pastoral Hall of Immaculate Conception Parish, following the evening Mass drew parishioners and fellow SCJs from the area of Cagayan de Oro to express their gratitude and well wishes.

Brother Yohanes arrived in the Philippines on August 29, 2001, eager to share his faith and serve the local communities. His assignments took him to diverse corners of the island of Mindanao, leaving him a cherished memory in places like Margosatubig, Bacolod, Dumalinao, Lower Lucoban, Dansolihon, and ultimately, Cagayan de Oro. Throughout his journey, he touched countless lives with his unwavering dedication, infectious smile, and genuine spirit of service.

The farewell dinner resonated with heartfelt emotions. Parishioners, young and old, shared their personal stories of how Brother Yohanes had impacted their lives. He wasn’t just a religious brother– he was a friend, a confidante, a beacon of strength in times of need.
