Celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart in Cagayan de Oro

The Feast of the Sacred Heart holds particular importance for the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart (SCJs) as it’s their patronal feast. This special day serves as a time for reflection, spiritual refreshment, and a celebration as a community. They revere and embrace the divine love and mercy of the Sacred Heart with deep devotion.

On June 7, 2024, in the Cagayan de Oro formation community, Fr. Niño Etulle, SCJ, the Regional Superior, led a concelebrated Mass for the Feast.

The day began with a reflection guided by Fr. Candido Bayron, SCJ. He centered his message on God’s immense love, reminding everyone that God’s love for us comes first. This resonated deeply with those present, who then shared their own experiences of God’s love in their lives.

During the Mass, Fr. Etulle delivered a homily focusing on the 12 promises of the Sacred Heart. He emphasized Jesus’ unwavering love and mercy offered through his Sacred Heart, urging everyone to remain faithful to this love.

Following the homily, all SCJs present renewed their commitment as religious, reaffirming their dedication to a life of service, prayer, and devotion to the Sacred Heart. The act of renewal symbolized a rekindling of the vows and promises made upon entering into religious life, a moment of spiritual reawakening and rededication to the Sacred Heart and His mission.

The celebration culminated with the Holy Eucharist, followed by a joyful meal shared amongst the Dehonian Family, including Dehonian Youth, Lay Dehonians, and friends.
