On January 9, 2025, Jesus Nazareno Parish in Dansolihon, Cagayan de Oro City, joyously commemorated its annual feast day in honor of Señor Jesus Nazareno. This year’s celebration was made even more special with the blessing of the newly restructured Parish Formation House and Rectory. The event reflected the parish’s deep faith, commitment to spiritual growth, and dedication to serving its community.
A Feast of Devotion
The Feast of the Black Nazarene holds a special place in the hearts of Filipinos, exemplifying the nation’s profound Catholic devotion. In Dansolihon, the celebration was presided over by the Most Rev. Jose A. Cabantan, D.D., Archbishop of Cagayan de Oro. The feast was preceded by a nine-day novena, culminating in a vibrant procession of the Black Nazarene’s image through the barangay, uniting the faithful in prayer and thanksgiving.
Blessing of the New Formation House and Rectory
A significant highlight of the day was the blessing of the expanded Formation House and Rectory, marking a new chapter in the parish’s history. Originally constructed in 2005, the building has been restructured to include a Formation House on the ground floor and a second-floor residence for the SCJ community. Archbishop Cabantan led the blessing ceremony, which was filled with gratitude and hope for the parish’s future. The Formation House is envisioned as a hub for catechesis, meetings, and spiritual formation programs, reinforcing the parish’s commitment to nurturing faith and fellowship.
A Testament to Leadership and Community Spirit
The success of the renovation is a testament to the leadership of Fr. Janusz Burzawa, SCJ, and Fr. Christopher Alburo, SCJ, along with the steadfast support of parishioners and benefactors. This collective effort stands as a powerful example of what can be achieved through shared faith and purpose, further strengthening the bonds of a thriving parish community.
