In this Sunday’s Gospel we reflect on Jesus’ farewell discourse, where He promises His enduring presence through the Holy Spirit and offers the priceless gift of peace. Jesus assures us that those who love Him and keep His word will receive the indwelling presence of the Father and the Son. This divine intimacy is made possible through the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who teaches, reminds, and comforts us.
The early Church, guided by the Spirit, resolved serious disputes through discernment and unity, as seen in the decision of the apostles in Acts 15:28. The Gospel reminds us that Christ’s peace is not like the world’s—it is deeper, spiritual, and enduring. Revelation gives us a vision of the New Jerusalem, a Church built on peace, where God Himself is the temple.
We are called to be builders of peace: in our hearts, our families, our communities. Through humility, kindness, and forgiveness, we live as citizens of God’s heavenly city. The peace of Christ is not a feeling or concept—it is Christ Himself. May we receive and share that peace through the witness of our lives.
