On this Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we are invited once again to contemplate a Heart that is open, wounded, and burning with love. In his message for this year, our General Superior, Fr. Carlos Luis Suárez Codorniú, SCJ, reminds us that this Heart is not closed in on itself, but turned toward the wounds of humanity. It is the Heart of Christ who sees, feels compassion, and responds.
The world today is deeply marked by violence, exploitation, and indifference. As Dehonians, we are called to witness to a different path: the path of reparation, solidarity, and hope. The Heart of Jesus urges us to embrace the suffering of others—not with fear or cynicism—but with tender and courageous love.
Fr. Dehon believed that the Heart of Jesus is the answer to the deep thirst of every human soul. He taught that our vocation is to be prophets of love and servants of reconciliation. Let this solemnity be an occasion to renew our personal and community commitment to that mission.
Let us not only adore the Sacred Heart in prayer, but also imitate His Heart in our actions: building peace, listening to the cries of the poor, and defending human dignity wherever it is trampled.
May the Heart of Jesus reign in our hearts, in our communities, and in the world.
Cor Jesu Sacratissimum, miserere nobis.
