In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of a man who built bigger barns to store his wealth, thinking he could then rest and enjoy life. But God calls him a fool—“This very night your life will be demanded of you.”

This is a powerful reminder: we can spend our lives chasing success and security, only to discover we’ve neglected what truly matters—our soul, our relationships, and our love for God.

The First Reading from Ecclesiastes echoes the same message: “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.” Everything on earth passes away. If we live only for money, pleasure, or recognition, we are chasing the wind.

St. Paul, in his letter to the Colossians, urges us to “seek what is above” and put aside greed and selfishness. In a world that often confuses wealth with worth, the Christian is called to be different—to live with a heart set on Christ.

Let us ask ourselves:
🔹 What am I truly living for?
🔹 Am I rich in the things that matter to God—faith, compassion, generosity, love?

To be rich in God’s eyes is not about what we possess, but how much we love and how freely we share.
May we build not bigger barns, but bigger hearts, and store up treasure that will never fade.

Lord, teach us to value what lasts.
Help us to live simply, love deeply, and give generously.
