“Here I Am, Lord”: Lay Dehonians Prepare for a Life of Love and Service

On August 2, 2025, the Lay Dehonians from the Zamboanga Peninsula gathered at the Fr. Dehon Novitiate for a special formation day focused on the Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the beginnings of the SCJ mission in the Philippines, and the inspiring life of Venerable Fr. Leo John Dehon.

The event was a moment of grace and renewal. Through talks, reflections, and prayer, the participants were encouraged to deepen their personal relationship with God and to discern how they can participate in His mission of love and service.

Inspired by the example of Fr. Dehon, who offered his life in reparation and service to the Church and society, they were reminded that to be Dehonian means to love with the Heart of Christ, to serve with sincerity, and to respond generously to Christ’s call in today’s world.

This formation experience strengthened their faith and renewed their commitment to God’s mission. Their commissioning will take place on August 12, 2025, at St. Isidore Parish in Dumalinao, during the celebration of the Centennial of Fr. Dehon’s death.

Let us continue to pray for them, that—like Fr. Dehon—they may become prophets of love, apostles of reparation, and servants of the Heart of Jesus in our world today.
