Celebration of the 100th Death Anniversary of Fr. Leo John Dehon in the Area of Cagayan de Oro

The celebration of the 100th death anniversary of Fr. Leo John Dehon at the Sacred Heart Formation House in Aluba began on the weekend of August 9–10, 2025 with friendly sports activities, including volleyball, basketball, and soccer. These were followed by indoor games such as chess, scrabble, and other activities that encouraged fellowship and joy among participants.

On August 12, 2025, the program started in the morning with a spiritual talk delivered by Fr. Francis Pupkowski, SCJ, followed by a time for personal reflection and group sharing.

In the afternoon, following a lively Quiz Bee about Fr. Dehon, the formation community joined the Immaculate Conception Parish of Aluba and the Jesus Nazareno Parish of Dansolihon for the area celebration. The highlight was the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. John Karl Cabaluna, SCJ, parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Parish. After Communion, the Lay Dehonians and Dehonian Youth renewed their pledge of commitment.

After the Mass, everyone gathered at the Parish Formation Center for a common meal and a short cultural program. During this program, former employees were honored with a Plaque of Appreciation and a Dehonian Gratitude Bag. The event concluded with a message from Fr. Francis Pupkowski, SCJ and a closing prayer led by Fr. Ronald M. Basco, SCJ.

The celebration brought together members of the Dehonian Family, parishioners from Aluba and Dansolihon, former and present employees, benefactors, friends, and seminarians from the Sacred Heart Formation House.
