From January 28 to February 4, 2026, members of the Dehonian International Communication Commission gathered at the Casa Generalizia in Rome for an eight-day conference focused on prayer, reflection, formation, and strategic planning. The meeting brought together representatives from SCJ entities around the world, including Fr. Julius Della Peña Socorro, SCJ, from the Philippines, and served to strengthen fraternity and renew a shared commitment to the Dehonian mission through communication.
The conference reaffirmed that communication is not merely a technical task but an essential dimension of the Dehonian vocation. Rooted in spirituality and communion, communication was presented as a form of evangelization that builds unity (Sint Unum) and makes the Heart of Christ visible in today’s world. In this vision, every SCJ is called to be a communicator through words, images, and personal witness.
Participants reflected deeply on the role of communication in the Congregation, especially in the digital world, which was recognized as a true pastoral field. The Commission emphasized the importance of creativity, empathy, and professionalism, encouraging members to move beyond simply reporting activities and instead share deeper spiritual meaning, hope, and solidarity.
Practical workshops focused on strengthening the Congregation’s digital presence, particularly its websites and social media platforms. The responsible use of artificial intelligence for translation, drafting, and archiving was explored as a helpful tool to improve efficiency and accessibility. The Commission also committed itself to developing clear guidelines, shared tools, and coordinated strategies to ensure timely, high-quality, and unified communication.
Special attention was given to preparations for major upcoming events, including the Beatification of Fr. Martino Capelli in 2026 and future Dehonian Jubilees. Participants agreed on the importance of long-term storytelling, multimedia resources, and multilingual materials to help the entire Congregation participate meaningfully in these important moments. Sessions on Dehonian education (Educare) and the Centro Studi Dehoniani highlighted the need to make the Congregation’s spiritual and intellectual heritage more accessible, especially to young people.
For the SCJ Philippines Region, the conference was a strong invitation to engage more actively in the global communication network by sharing local pastoral experiences, testimonies, and stories of mission. It also emphasized the need for ongoing formation in digital communication and closer collaboration between personal and institutional platforms.
The conference concluded in a spirit of gratitude and hope. Participants described the gathering as a grace-filled experience that strengthened vision, fraternity, and missionary zeal. As the Congregation moves forward, Dehonian communication is renewed as a ministry of listening, accompaniment, and witness—grounded in prayer, animated by creativity, and oriented toward communion.
