Prayers for the Dead on All Souls Day

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Amen.

30th Parish Anniversary and Patronal Feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz

On September 24, 2017, the parish community of San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish in Quezon City, Diocese of Novaliches, celebrated two important events: 30th Foundation Anniversary and Feast of the PatronSan Lorenzo Ruiz, martyr and first Filipino saint. The parish was officially established on August 15, 1987. Since 2016, the parish is being served by the SCJ community.

The Eucharistic Celebration was presided by Rev. Fr. JERRY ORBOS, SVD. During the homily, the celebrant reminded the parish community that martyrdom is a part of the Church. Recalling the model of Mother Mary, Queen of the Martyrs, and the heroic martyrdom of San Lorenzo Ruiz, he urged the people to help and love everyone instead of hurting them. May San Lorenzo Ruiz become the lively example for all of us to be martyrs in serving God and people.

Feast of the Holy Cross in Tandang Kutyo

The Holy Cross Parish (Parokya ng Banal na Krus) in Tandang Kutyo, Tanay, Rizal (Diocese of Antipolo) was officialy erected on June 26, 2016, and was entrusted to the Priests of the Sacred Heart. As of now, the parish is run by three SCJs: Fr. Marcial Aguirre, SCJ, Fr. Sergio Matumoto, SCJ and Fra. Justreel Tuburan, SCJ. The parish has a long history of the devotion to the Holy Cross, the symbol of our salvation. Every second Monday of May many people would gather there to celebrate the titular feast of the chapel, not exluding the National Election held on this day. The particular date has a special meaning for the local people as it commemorates the date of finding again the cross after it disappeared from the chapel in mysterious circumstances.

This year, on May 8, 2017, the celebration of the Parish Feast was graced with the presence of the Bishop of the Diocese of Antipolo, Most Rev. Francisco M. De Leon, DD, who presided the concelebrated Holy Eucharist. The celebration was attended by the SCJs from the Manila area and some diocesan priests.
