Remembering + Fr. Joseph Butlig, SCJ on his 1st Death Anniversary

On April 1, 2023, the first death anniversary of Fr. Joseph Butlig, SCJ, we remember and honor his life and legacy. Fr. Joseph Butlig passed away at the young age of 42 on April 1, 2022, at 3:05 AM. He was born on November 27, 1979, in Alicia, Bohol. In 2005 he entered the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart (SCJ) and made his first profession of vows on May 13, 2007. Kasanag Daughters Foundation, Inc. celebrates the Feast of the Patron

March 19 is a special day for the Kasanag Daughters Foundation Inc. (KDFI) as it marks the Solemnity of St. Joseph, the foundation’s patron saint. St. Joseph is known as the spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the guardian and protector of the Holy Family, and the patron saint of workers and fathers. Jesus Nazareno Quasi-Parish in Dansolihon declared a Parish

Three bishops and more than twenty priests, both diocesan and religious, took part in the concelebrated Holy Mass during which the Jesus Nazareno Quasi-Parish in Dansolihon was declared a Parish. The Eucharist presided by Most Rev. Jose A. Cabantan, D.D., the Archbishop of Cagayan de Oro started at 9:00 o’clock in the morning on February 18, 2023. The archbishop was accompanied by Most Rev. Antonio J. Ledesma, SJ. DD., the Archbishop Emeritus and Most Rev. Vilsom Basso, SCJ, DD, the Bishop of Imperatriz Diocese in Brazil.

At the beginning of the Eucharist Fr. Neil Pagalan, representing the Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro, read the “Decree of Elevation” of the new parish, followed by the installation of a new Parish Priest Fr. Janusz Burzawa, SCJ, and profession of faith. Continue reading

Celebration of the 97th Death Anniversary of the Founder in Cagayan de Oro

The celebration of the 97th death anniversary of Fr. Leo John Dehon, founder of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (SCJ), in the formation community in Cagayan de Oro City, consisted of three major parts: spiritual preparation, sports fest, and the Holy Eucharist.

The spiritual preparation started on August 3, 2022, with the nine-day novena, presenting the human and spiritual profile of Fr. Dehon, based on the testimonies of the people who knew or met Fr. Dehon personally.  On August 11, 2022, the community held a Holy Hour, during which a short video clip summarizing the life of the Founder was presented.
