On March 8, 2011, took place a groundbreaking ceremony and blessing of the construction site of an additional Pre-college building. The purpose of this new project is to provide a better accommodation to live and study for the new candidates to our congregation. The ceremony was conducted by the SCJ in-charge of this project – Fr. Andrew Sudol, who also, in the name of the community, signed a contract with the architect and the same time constructor. The estimated time to finish this construction is five months.

Ordination to the Priesthood of two Vietnamese confreres
On January 19, 2011 – our two Vietnamese confreres Phong and Quang were ordained priests. They received the sacrament of the Holy Order from the hands of the Most Rev. Antonio Tobias, DD. The ceremony took place in San Lorenzo Parish in Quezon City and was attended by their families, friends and almost all SCJs from the Philippine District. The newly ordained priests belong to the first batch of our Vietnamese confreres who joined the SCJ Philippine District in 2001.
District Assembly 2011
On January 10-14, 2011 – the SCJ Philippine District held its annual assembly. This year the assembly took place in the Sacred Heart Formation House in Aluba, Cagayan de Oro City and was attended by 25 SCJs.
Among the special participants attending this meeting were Fr. Paulus Sugino, the General Councilor from Rome and Fr. Rino from Vietnam.
The assembly started with reflection on “Religious Consecration” conducted by Fr. Aloisio Back, which was followed by the personal sharing of each member of the District.
The personal sharing of members continued also on the second day in the morning. In the afternoon, Fr. Aloisio Back gave an input on community life, which was the main subject of the assembly. Also, in the afternoon of the second day the participants of the Assembly played a soccer match against the seminarians. The match was won 4:3 by the seminarians.
On the third day, in the morning, the big group was divided into five smaller groups to discuss and to answer the guide questions prepared by Fr. Aloisio. The discussion and sharing on this topic was carried on also in the afternoon.
The fourth day was dedicated entirely to the reporting of activities by different commissions and groups of interest starting with the formation and ending with the financial matters.
The fifth and the last day of the assembly started with reporting on the works on proposed “Regional Directory” and was followed by report from Vietnam and Fr. Sugino’s time, who shared his observations regarding the Philippine District and information about the Congregation. In the afternoon, the group discussed the yearly plan and some other urgent matters concerning the District. The Assembly was concluded with the Holy Mass presided by Fr. Paulus Sugino.
Ordination of Bro. Showe Reddy Nekkanti SCJ in Dumalinao
On 15th December 2010, unforgettable day for the Philippine District. Bro. Showe Reddy Nekkanti SCJ, was ordained as a deacon by the Bishop of Pagadian Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel T. Cabajar, CSsR, D.D. the Eucharistic celebration started at 10am with the procession.Fr. Lukas (parish priest), and Fr. Aloisio Back (novice master) were the main concelebrants with the Bishop. There were around 25 priests, many religious sisters, seminarians, and hundreds of people witnessed in this auspicious event. The involvement of sacristan, catechists, Eucharistic minister, altar boys and girls were very much appreciated by all. During the celebration bishop gave a meaningful homily stating the fundamental duties of deacon and invited Br. Showe to do the same. After the homily the bishop laid his hand on him to bring the order of deacon. There was a beautiful choir singing the glory of God, under the leadership of Bro. Sismadi, including novices and parish choir members. Bro. deacon Showe gave thanks to all in Bisaya and Fr. Lukas also thanked for everyone who came for the celebration. Followed by the celebration, there was an Agape in the parish hall. The celebration ended at 1pm.
Final Vows and Ordination to the Deaconate
On July 23, 2010, two members of the SCJ Philippine District: Bro. Phong Quoc Tran together with Bro. Joseph Quang Tran, and Bro. Nekkanti B. Show Reddy from the District of India made their final profession of vows in the congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The celebration took place at the Dehon House in Quezon City.
On the following day on July 24, 2010 Bro. Phong and Bro. Quang was ordained deacons. The ceremony, which was presided by the Most Rev. Antonio Tobias, DD – the Bishop of Novaliches, took place during the Holy Eucharist at San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish in Quezon City.
Both celebrations were attended by SCJ confreres, friends and members of the families of the new deacons.
