Remember us, O God;
from age to age be our comforter.
You have given us the wonder of time,
blessings in days and nights,
seasons and years.

Bless your children at the turning of the year
and fill the months ahead with
the bright hope
that is ours in the coming of Christ.

You are our God, living and reigning,
forever and ever.

A Christian Prayer for the New Year

Our Father and our God, as we stand at the beginning of this new year, we confess our need of Your presence and Your guidance as we face the future.

We each have our hopes and expectations for the year that is ahead of us, but You alone know what it holds for us, and only You can give us the strength and the wisdom we will need to meet its challenges. Give us the kindness to hear with compassion,
     to offer support,
     loving comfort, and care.

Give us the courage to do what is needed,
     the wisdom to choose
     what is right and fair.

Give us the vision to see what is possible.

Give us the faith
     that will help pave the way
     for a present that is hopeful,
     a future that is peaceful—

Give us a heart to bring joy to each day.
