What would you ask God for if He granted you one request?

When God asked King Solomon, “Ask something of me and I will give it to you,” Solomon did not ask for riches, power, or a long life. Instead, he prayed for a hearing heart—a heart that listens to God, discerns what is right, and has the courage to live it.

In today’s world, we are surrounded by endless information and countless voices. Yet what we need most is not more knowledge, but more wisdom. We need hearts that can hear the gentle voice of God.

Jesus reminds us that the Kingdom of God is like a hidden treasure or a pearl of great price. Those who discover Christ find something so precious that every sacrifice becomes a joyful response. The Christian life is not first about what we give up, but about the incomparable treasure we receive.

St. Paul assures us that “all things work for good for those who love God.” Even our struggles, disappointments, and sufferings can become places where God’s grace transforms us into the likeness of Christ.

As we celebrate the World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly, we also give thanks for those who have taught us to pray, to trust, and to persevere in faith. Their lives remind us that a hearing heart is formed through prayer, fidelity, patience, and love.

This is also Fil-Mission Sunday, inviting each of us to share the treasure we have found. A kind word, an act of forgiveness, a helping hand, or a faithful Christian witness can reveal Christ to someone who is searching for hope.

May our prayer this week be the prayer of Solomon:

Lord, give us a hearing heart—
a heart that listens,
a heart that chooses wisdom,
a heart that recognizes Christ as the greatest treasure,
and a heart that joyfully shares His love with the world.

“For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” (Mt 6:21)
