The Sacred Heart Formation House in Cagayan de Oro City welcomed its benefactors for the celebration of the First Friday of September on September 4. The gathering began with Holy Mass, presided over by Fr. Patrick L. Gutib, SCJ, followed by a simple evening of fellowship and gratitude.
In his homily, Fr. Patrick reminded us that Christianity is not simply about fulfilling religious obligations but about a joyful and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Devotion to the Sacred Heart calls us to become “new wineskins”—allowing Christ’s love to transform the way we think, forgive, serve, and relate to others.
He also reminded us that we are called to be Christ’s hands and feet in the world, making His love visible through our kindness, generosity, and service. A special word of gratitude was expressed to our benefactors whose prayers, sacrifices, and generosity make the Church’s mission and the formation of future priests possible.
During supper, one of the seminarians shared his vocation story, giving our benefactors a glimpse into his journey of responding to God’s call.
The evening also featured a video presentation, “Priest Who Gave His Life,” about Fr. Martino Capelli, SCJ, as we prepare for his beatification on September 27, 2026, in Bologna, Italy.
It was a joyful evening of prayer, gratitude, vocation sharing, and fellowship. We thank all our benefactors for faithfully accompanying our seminarians and formation community.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, bless our benefactors and their families!
