Fr. Francis Pupkowski – 25th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood

On May 16 and June 5, 2011, Fr. Francis Pupkowski celebrated his 25th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood.

The first celebration, which was the official celebration of the Philippine District, took place at the Novitiate Fr. Dehon in Lower Locuban, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur.

The second one was connected with the anticipated celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart with the benefactors and took place in the Sacred Heart Formation House in Cagayan de Oro City.

Fr. Francis was ordained on June 19, 1986 in Stadniki, Poland. After his ordination he was assigned for two years as an assistant parish priest in Ostrowiec Sw.

In 1988 he volunteered to go to the Philippines to join the new international mission. He has been serving the local Church and the Philippine District for 22 past years as: an assistant parish priest, parish priest, district treasurer and secretary. At the moment Fr. Francis is working in the fundraising office in Cagayan de Oro City and is taking care of a group of Lay Dehonians.

 

First Profession of Vows

On May 13, 2011 – four Novices: Dennis M. Macasero, Vic Anthony Calonia, Dang Van Nguyen and Luong Van Nguyen made their first profession of vows in the congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart. The ceremony took plcae during the Holy Eucharist at the Novitiate Fr. Dehon in Lucoban, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur.

The vows were taken in the presence of the members of SCJ Philippine District, quest priests and religious, members of families and friends of the newly professed SCJs and the Congregation.

The vows were accepted by the District Superior Fr. Jose Benedito de Moraes Machado.

Final Vows of Bro. Lourdiso Panhay

Philippine-Final-Vows-420x298On April 25, 2011 – an SCJ on temporary vows Bro. Lourdiso Z. Panhay made his final commitment to God and to the Congregation. The ceremony of Perpetual Profession took place at the Novitiate Fr. Dehon, Locuban, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur.

The vows were accepted by the District Superior Fr. Jose Benedito de Moraes Machado who was the main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist.

Also, during the same time Bro. Nathaniel Robilla was admitted to the Novitiate.

Among those who attended this celebration was Fr. Bernard Rosinski from the US Province and Fr. Martin Van Ooij from the District of India.

Acceptance to the Novitiate

12 Postulants, 7 from India and 5 from the Philippine District were accepted to the 14-month Novitiate. The ceremony of acceptance took place in the Novitiate Fr. Dehon in Lower Lucoban, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur on March 25, 2001, the Solemnity of Annunciation, during the Holy Mass presided by Fr. Benedito Machado, the Superior of the Philippine District.

At the moment there are 17 Novices: 7 from India, 7 from the Philippines and 3 from Vietnam.

Celebration of 168th Anniversary of Birth of F. Dehon in Cagayan de Oro

On March 14, 2011 – the SCJ community of Cagayan de Oro, together with the members of the Dehonian Family and friends, celebrated 168th anniversary of birth of Fr. Leo John Dehon. The celebration was preceded with a novena prayers for new vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

The main celebration started with the Holy Eucharist at 5:30 in the afternoon. Fr. Jose Benedito Machado de Moraes, the superior of the Philippine District, was the presider and homilist.

During the celebration it took place two important events: an acceptance to the Postulancy Program of four Aspirants and dedication of new members of the Dehonian Youth group connected with the formation community in Cagayan de Oro.

Right after the Mass, the whole congregation moved in front of the statue of Fr. Leo Dehon to pray together for his soon beatification and new vocations to the Congregation.

As usual, the celebration was concluded with the common supper.
