On June 14, 2026, the Priests of the Sacred Heart (SCJ) in Cagayan de Oro celebrated their annual Benefactors’ Day, held each year on the Sunday following the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The gathering was an occasion to express gratitude to the many benefactors and friends who support the congregation’s mission through their prayers and generosity.
The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Francis Pupkowski, SCJ, director of the Fundraising Office. In his homily on the theme “The Heart That Loves, Calls, and Sends,” Fr. Francis reflected on God’s faithful love revealed in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He emphasized that Christ’s compassion for those in need becomes a mission, calling all believers to serve, heal, and share the Gospel.
Fr. Francis also thanked the benefactors, reminding them that their support is not only financial but a genuine participation in the Church’s mission. Through their generosity, future priests are formed, the poor are assisted, and communities are strengthened in faith.
After Mass, Fr. Francis shared updates on the activities and future projects of the Priests of the Sacred Heart and invited the benefactors to join the community’s monthly First Friday gatherings. The celebration concluded with a communal lunch that fostered fellowship and strengthened the bonds between the benefactors and the SCJ community.
The day was a joyful witness to a growing family of supporters united in faith, compassion, and hope.
