This Sunday, Elijah reminds us that God often speaks in a gentle whisper, not in spectacular signs. We need silence to hear Him.

Prayer is not only asking God for what we want. It is also listening and accepting His will.

We can ask for healing, peace and help, but we must also be able to say:

“Lord, not my will, but yours be done.”

In the Gospel, Peter begins to sink when he takes his eyes off Jesus and looks at the storm.

When we focus only on our problems, fear becomes bigger than faith. When we look at Jesus, we find hope.

And when Peter cries, “Lord, save me!”, Jesus immediately reaches out His hand.

The Christian life is not a promise that there will be no storms. It is the promise that Jesus is with us in every storm.

This week, take ten minutes of silence each day and pray:

“Lord, I am here. Speak, because your servant is listening.”

Listen. Trust. Surrender. Keep your eyes on Jesus.
