On the evening of October 31, 2025, the Sacred Heart Formation House in Cagayan de Oro City joyfully concluded the Month of the Holy Rosary and celebrated the Solemnity of All Saints.
The evening began at 5:45 with the recitation of the Holy Rosary. Following tradition, the seminarians prepared a Rosary made of candles, a touching symbol of light conquering darkness. After each Hail Mary, one candle was lit, forming a glowing chain of prayers around the court. The gentle light from each flame reflected the unity of many hearts praying together, creating an atmosphere of reverence and peace.
The celebrations of All Saints’ Day on November 1 and All Souls’ Day on November 2 are central to the Catholic Church’s tradition of remembering the dead. These days honor both the saints who have attained heaven and the souls who are still undergoing purification. Together, they remind Catholics of the “Communion of Saints,” that unity between the Church on earth, in purgatory, and in heaven. 
On October 31, 2024, the SCJ Formation Community in Cagayan de Oro City concluded October’s devotion to the Holy Rosary with a meaningful celebration, which also served to honor All Saints Day. This event brought together elements of prayer, reflection, and fellowship in a solemn yet festive gathering. 
Halloween, widely celebrated with costumes, decorations, and “trick-or-treating,” is often seen as a secular holiday centered on fun and fright. Yet, its origins are deeply spiritual, with significant Catholic traditions focused on honoring the communion of saints and praying for the departed. For Catholics, Halloween offers a special time to reconnect with its holy roots and celebrate in a way that reflects both tradition and faith. 
On the evening of October 31, 2023, the SCJ Formation Community in Cagayan de Oro City held a unique and heartwarming celebration to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and the many saints who lived and have gone before us. The event was attended by the Community of TMM Sisters, some employees in the formation house, and friends.
