19th Foundation Day of KDFI

On May 26, 2018, the Kasanag Daughters Foundation, Inc., (KDFI) celebrated its 19th Foundation Day. It is always celebrated on the last Saturday of May. As usual, the celebration started with the Holy Eucharist. Fr. Francis Pupkowski, SCJ, the main celebrant, was accompanied by Mons. Rey Monsanto, the parish priest of Kauswagan, where the KDFI is located, Fr. Thomas Cassidy, SCJ, a member of the US Province, and Fr. Joseph Butlig, SCJ, the coordinator of the program.

After the Mass, Mons. Rey Monsanto and Mrs. Wilma Gomez, the Board Member of Kasanag, cut the ribbon at the entrance to the exhibit room containing the art works of the residents of Kasanag Foundation. The cutting of the ribbon was followed by a short program prepared by the girls with help of  Mr. Michael “music wizard”Auxilio.

The singing continued after the supper. The celebration which lasted longer than usual was attended by the Board Members of Kasanag, SCJ priests and seminarians, old Kasanag daughters, benefactors and friends. The atmosphere was very nice and alive.

Outreach Program by Lay Dehonians

On May 26, 2018, the Lay Dehonians from Cagayan de Oro City, held their Outreach Program  in sitio Man-ai, barangay Tignapoloan, Dansolihon Chaplaincy. The main activity was feeding of the children, who in the remote area have not always enough nutritious food. Besides the lunch prepared by Lay Dehonians, games and other catechetical activities, the children could enjoy donuts, donated partially by Dunkin Donuts Corporation. The Lay Dehonians accompanied by Fr. Khoa Nguyen, SCJ, their spiritual adviser,  joined the Dehonian Youth Missionaries, who have been doing their mission there since May 19, 2018.

Youth Mission in Talisay Accomplished

Thirty seven (37) young missionaries from the Miraculous Medal Quasi-Parish in Talisay, Hilongos, Southern Leyte, completed the 12-day summer youth mission in the Christian communities of Capudlusan and Hitudpan. The mission, held on May 1 – 12, 2018, was first in the history of the parish and the Diocese of Maasin. The missionaries commit themselves to continue what the Lord has started in them from their generation to the next. God be praised! Thanks to all the parishioners who, in various ways, supported them in both their material and spiritual needs.

Parish Feast in Dumalinao and Kumalarang

On May 15, 2018, the two SCJ parishes celebrated their Patronal Feast of St. Isidore, the Farmer. In Dumalinao, the Holy Eucharist started at 9:30 am. The main celebrant was Fr. Lukas Hadi Siswo Sasmito, SCJ, the Regional Superior and Parish Priest. The celebration was attended by a number of SCJs, who will attend the SCJ meeting on May 17, 2018. The celebration of the Eucharist was followed by a common meal, including some “lechons” (roasted pigs).

In Kumalarang, the main celebrant was Fr. Indra Pamungkas, SCJ, the Master of Novices. The celebration of the Eucharist was followed by a common meal and after that cultural show prepared by different zones. Some SCJs were able to attend the second part of the celebration.

In both cases the celebration was very well prepared, so the people from different chapels could enjoy the feast of their patron, St. Isidore the Farmer.

Parish Feast in Bukal, Tandang Kutyo

The Holy Cross Parish (Parokya ng Banal na Krus) in Sitio Bukal, Barangay Tandang Kutyo, Tanay, Rizal (Diocese of Antipolo) has a long history of the devotion to the Holy Cross, the symbol of our salvation. Every second Monday of May, many people would gather there to celebrate the titular feast of the chapel not excluding the day of elections, which is also held on this day. The particular date has a special meaning for the local people as it commemorates the date of finding again the cross after it disappeared from the chapel in mysterious circumstances.This year, the Parish Feast was celebrated on May 14, 2018, which was the day of Philippine Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. The two main elements of the celebration were procession with the Holy Cross and Holy Eucharist presided by the Bishop of the Diocese of Antipolo, Most Rev. Francisco M. De Leon, DD..

The parish was officially erected on June 26, 2016, and was entrusted to the Priests of the Sacred Heart. As of now, the parish is run by three SCJs: Fr. Marcial Aguirre, SCJFr. Sergio Matumoto, SCJ and Dn. Nathaniel Robilla, SCJ.
