If Jesus came to your home today, would He truly find a place in your life? That is the challenging question behind this Sunday’s readings.
The woman of Shunem teaches us what it means to welcome God by making room for the prophet Elisha. Likewise, we are invited not only to believe in Christ but to give Him first place in our lives—not just in prayer, but in our decisions, priorities, and daily actions.
Jesus reminds us that we meet Him in others. Simple acts of kindness, patience, forgiveness, and generosity are ways of welcoming Christ. Holiness is built through these quiet acts of love.
Following Jesus also means carrying the cross. True discipleship requires sacrifice, letting go of selfishness, and choosing God’s will each day. Yet Jesus promises that those who give their lives for Him will discover the fullness of life.
Through Baptism, we have already begun this new life in Christ. The question remains: Is Jesus simply important to us, or is He truly Lord of our lives? When Christ comes first, we lose nothing that truly matters and gain everything that lasts forever.
