
On March 14, 2025, the Sacred Heart Formation House in Aluba, Cagayan de Oro City, became the focal point for the 182nd birth anniversary celebration of Venerable Fr. Leo John Dehon, founder of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart (Dehonians). The event was graced by Fr. John Karl Cabaluna, SCJ, the parish priest of Immaculate Conception Parish in Aluba, who presided over the solemn Mass at 6:00 PM. The congregation included members of the SCJ Area of Cagayan de Oro, Lay Dehonians, Dehonian Youth, and friends, all gathered to honor the enduring legacy of Fr. Dehon.
On February 8-9, 2025, the Sacred Heart Formation House in Cagayan de Oro City hosted the second season of the Vocation Festival (Fest Voc), titled “The Joy of Consecrated Life.” Building upon the inaugural season, “San ka Punta? To the Lord!” (Where are you heading? To the Lord!), which provided a general overview of different vocations, this year’s festival delved deeper into the beauty and commitment of consecrated life.
On November 23, 2024, Dehon House in Manila hosted a special celebration of SCJ Memorial Day, a time set aside to honor the martyrs and influential members who have shaped the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart (SCJ). This occasion also served as Benefactors’ Day for the Manila area, recognizing those who support the SCJ’s work, and as the anticipated Mass for the Solemnity of Christ the King.
On August 12, 2024, the Priests of the Sacred Heart (SCJs) in Cagayan de Oro gathered at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Aluba to honor the 99th anniversary of the passing of their founder, Venerable Fr. Leo John Dehon. This significant event also marked the commencement of a year-long preparation leading up to the centennial anniversary of Fr. Dehon’s death in 1925 and the 150th founding anniversary of the congregation.
